Hobo Kelly
Growing up in Los Angeles in the 60's was a special treat because of Sally "Hobo Kelly" Baker. I remember seeing her in person at the McDonald's on Artesia Blvd. in Long Beach. There were hundreds of kids, and I was very excited to see a TV star!
If you didn't grow up in L.A., you really missed a legend of children's programming.

I'm sorry that I never got to see "Hobo Kelly;" Ms. Baker sounds like quite the character.
While visiting L.A. back in the early 70's, however, I *did* get to meet Cal Worthington and his "dog," Spot; does that count for anything ... ?!
;-)
Cal is quite a fixture in So. Cal. But Hobo Kelly was a beloved character. It sounds funny now, but she predated Ronald McDonald, which is why they had her doing store appearances. I wonder how much of the Ronald character is based on Hobo Kelly?
So ol' Cal is still alive and kickin' after all these years, eh? Good for him!
Sorta like Joe Paterno ... but not really!
;-)
Ah... but JoePa is a much greater legand than Cal! We don't see Cal around now, but I believe he's still alive. His dealership is still there, but it doesn't have the presence that it did when Cal was riding his dog Spot!
