This guy is so freaky:

He just gets stranger and stranger. He looks a little bit like a cross between The Joker and Harry Potter.
Forgotten diver saved by Boy Scout

Cool for the Boy Scouts!

Time for Diver Dan to find new dive buddies though.

What the heck is this guy talking about?

I'm no fan of the Iraq war, but this is absolutely ridiculous! He claims that the Iraq war is a "Death Tax" because 25% of the Americas killed have been black or hispanic. Strangely enough, that's about exactly the ratio of blacks and hispanics to the general US population.

"This is not a shared sacrifice" Rangel said. Well, it if you want to manipulate numbers, then you better make you can make them say what you want.

He later makes the point that many of the soldiers come from communities with high unemployment, which I have no doubt is true. Many of these soldiers are taking advantage of guaranteed work and bountiful benefits in order to better themselves and their families. That's honorable. I applaud them for that. Many a wayward young man has gone into the military and come out a fine citizen with an array of opportunities in front of him. Now that the military is more open to women, many are finding new skills and new horizons available. Rangel wants to re-instate the draft, which would force those who don't want or need to be in the military into service, while denying those who need the positions access to the best positions and training.

So far, we've proven that a volunteer armed forces can work. Lets leave that alone.

White House: Bush Erred on Mustard Gas : "Once again, President Bush misspoke on a weapons issue, telling the nation that 50 tons of mustard gas were found in Libya - twice the amount actually uncovered."

Minister Dies From Snakebite at Easter Service
:

"No one attending the service at the Pentecostal church sought medical help, Parsons said. Members believe when people die from a snakebite during a service, it is a sign that it was their time to go."

Often, snake handlers believe that if the person dies, it's because they didn't have enough faith. This is just one bizarre manifestation of the belief that if you just pray hard enough, then God will answer your prayers. Of course, if you die, that means either you or your friends and family just didn't believe enough. Very dangerous.

Sometimes God answers prayer - but the answer is, "No."

Boy Scouts work to repair playground

This is one of those headlines that most newspapers should just keep the type for.
Former judge makes ukulele CD in support of library:

"'I didn't have any upfront money, and I needed a place with good acoustics. And, the bathroom was good and actually had a chair in it,' he said."

"When I was in high school, Pat Boone put out a movie, 'Bernadine,' and he played a baritone ukulele and he got all the girls,"

Watch out Little Richard! He might be coming after you next!
To Infinity! And Beyond!:

"Durst's late father, real-estate magnate Seymour Durst, installed the clock in 1989 when the debt was $2.7 trillion. When the clock returns in May, the debt will be more than $7 trillion.

In fact, the debt is now rising so quickly that the last seven numbers of the new clock will be moving too quickly to be read, Durst said."

Talk about making our National Debt a blur! Those numbers are just staggering! Where's our debt now headed? To Infinity! And Beyond!
